Eligibility
To be eligible for a Visit Visa (subclass 600), applicants must:
- Hold a valid passport with at least six months’ validity from your planned arrival date in Australia.
- Satisfy health and character requirements, which may include a medical examination or police clearance certificates as needed.
- Demonstrate sufficient funds to cover your travel and stay in Australia.
- Show genuine intent to visit Australia for tourism, family, or business purposes, supported by evidence of ties to your home country, such as employment, family, or property.
- Maintain adequate health insurance for the duration of your stay, if required.
- If you are visiting family, your sponsor may be asked to provide a security bond under the family stream.

Visit Visa (subclass 600) application process
You can apply for an Australian visit visa either online or by submitting a paper application at your nearest Australian Embassy or Consulate.
Applying Online:
- Create an ImmiAccount on the official Department of Home Affairs portal.
- Select the Tourist Stream Visa (Subclass 600).
- Complete the online application form with your personal details and trip information.
- Upload the required documents, including your passport, proof of funds, and travel insurance.
- Pay the visa application fee securely online.
- Wait for processing; you will receive notification of your visa outcome and a visa grant number if approved.
- Most applicants prefer the online method for its convenience.
Applying at an Embassy (On Paper):
- Locate your nearest Australian Embassy or Consulate and make an appointment in advance.
- Complete the Visitor Visa Application Form with accurate personal and travel details.
- Gather and submit all required documents as specified on the form.
- Pay the visa fee as instructed by the Embassy or Consulate.
- Submit your application and wait for the outcome notification.
- If approved, you will receive a visa grant number, which you can print and carry when traveling.
Applying from Inside Australia:
- If you are already in Australia on a substantive visa (not a bridging, criminal justice, or enforcement visa), you may apply for a tourist visa online via your ImmiAccount or submit a paper application at an Australian Immigration Office.
Upon arrival in Australia, you will need to complete an Incoming Passenger Card at the border.

For a short stay, your parents can apply for the Family-Sponsored Visitor Stream visa, which permits a visit of a few months. If your parents are older and you wish to support them in Australia for a longer period, they may apply for the Aged Parent Visa (Subclass 804) or the Sponsored Parent Visa (Subclass 870), both of which allow extended stays and can be renewed.
