Nursing courses in Australia

Do you enjoy interacting with and assisting others? Are you looking for a job that will allow you to make a difference in someone’s life? Nursing may be a good fit for you. Here are some of the reasons why you should consider studying nursing and embark on your path to a successful career.

Why study nursing in Australia?
Australian universities are well-known around the world for their nursing education programmes. Did you know that Australia has 11 of the world’s top 50 nursing institutes according to the QS World University Rankings for 2019?

Healthcare is one of Australia’s fastest expanding employment areas, and demand for healthcare services will continue to rise as the country’s aging population. It’s no surprise that nursing is in high demand because it provides a steady and rewarding career. Nurses derive a great deal of job satisfaction from the assistance they provide to patients.

Nursing studies cover a wide range of topics, with nurses assisting patients during tough moments in their life. Compassion, solid communication skills, and theoretical and practical medical knowledge are all required. The advantage of studying nursing is that you can easily find work in Australia and other areas of the world.

After completing your nursing degree, you can apply to join the AHPRA, Australia’s professional nursing body. The possibility to network with other professionals and job opportunities are two of the advantages of joining such an organisation. Furthermore, you will be recognised for your qualification in your industry and will be able to further expand your skills and knowledge.

To fill the skill shortage gap, the government is pushing talented employees to relocate to rural areas. For a variety of reasons, studying in a regional area is useful.

  • Studying in a regional area would earn you an extra 5 points under the points-based system.
  • Regional visas are processed first.
  • On the new 494 and 491 visas, if you find work in a designated DAMA regional area, you will be excused from the minimum wage requirement ($53,900).

What exactly is DAMA? It’s a legal agreement between the government and a regional body to increase the number of skilled workers in certain parts of the region. Working in a DAMA zone has the advantage of removing the $53,900 minimum annual salary requirement (known as the TSMIT – Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold), making it slightly easier to qualify for permanent residency. You must be supported by the regional area under DAMA.
